The new Bataleon Wallie is as jibby as boards come, with a soft flex and new ‘Wallie Tips’. These lifted, squared-off ends are designed to make rails and street spots easier to ride.
“The Wallie is perfect for the street-dweller looking to take a fresh approach to jibbing”
The Triple Base Technology been slightly tweaked again this year, with extra uplift right at the board’s widest points, but for most jibbers that won’t be hugely noticeable. The particular 3BT blend found in the Wallie has a wider centre base for stability, with just enough lift on each side to keep those edges clear.
Extra pop comes from bamboo in the core, laid end-to-end amongst the poplar wood. As for speed, the base may be extruded but it’s Bataleon’s ‘Super Slick X’ version that performs almost as well as a sintered base, with less maintenance required. Ideal for park and street riding, then.
From the nose to the tail, the Bataleon Wallie is more flexible than most, but basalt strips run from edge to edge to make it a bit torsionally firmer. This gives you more stability and faster reactions when making those quick adjustments on the run-in, but without stiffening up the ride.
Those looking for a high-end park board may prefer the Bataleon Boss, but the Wallie is perfect for the street-dweller looking to take a fresh approach to jibbing.
