In Slovenian park-slayer Klaudia Medlova, the Bataleon team boasts one of the most exciting female talents of this, or indeed any, era. A rider with her skill set needs a deck that can keep up, and the Bataleon She W fits the bill.

“A rider with Klaudia Medlova’s skill set needs a deck that can keep up, and the Bataleon She W fits the bill”

The Bataleon She W takes a lot of its beats from the Global Warmer in the men’s line. Both are aimed at heavy-hitting park riders, yet don’t go down the stiff-as-hell route favoured by others in the same category.

In previous years the base on the She W wasn’t quite as tech, but this year it’s been bumped up to the ‘Super Slick X’. Whilst still technically extruded rather than sintered, it’s been designed to hold the speed of the latter while retaining the strength of the former. If you need something that will always clear the knuckle but doesn’t need too much care, this is it.

While soft, the Bataleon She-W is no noodle. The end-to-end strength is boosted by bamboo in the core, while carbon stringers run perpendicular to those in order to make it more responsive from edge to edge. You can still twist the board through the waist, though, so it’s easy to get just the right amount of edge bite for unleashing a spin.

“True kicker-and-rail queens will love the Bataleon She W”

The minimal camber on the profile is enough to give you the benefits of a strong edge, but doesn’t feel too twitchy when you’re keen to butter around. Naturally, that kind of riding is further aided by the Triple Base Technology; uplifted side sections of base make it virtually impossible to hang up on a rail or box, but it’s subtle enough to allow you to forget about it when you don’t need it.

True kicker-and-rail queens will love the Bataleon She W, but you can also use it to progress your fledgling park skills into something more substantial. That’s why it’s one of our top picks for 2017/18.

Tester’s Verdict

Joy Dutchsnowboard-asylum.com

“Easily one of best chick’s freestyle boards out there, The She-W is the pinnacle of tech-meets-style. Whether you’re into rails, kickers, boxes, street riding, the She-Dub can handle it, no dramas.

“Any lump or bump becomes your personal playground, and this board will create something out of nothing if you let it”

It’s effortless to ride, and the triple base really has your back when you’re going for new tricks. The fact that it’s so forgiving means that even those relatively new to snowboarding will find themselves progressing way quicker than average. Despite being a park-oriented board, I found it was just as at home on the piste, and while it’s not the fastest board on the market, it more than made up for it by being mega poppy and explosive.

Any lump or bump becomes your personal playground, and this board will create something out of nothing if you let it. The softer flex meant it was rad for flatland and buttery mess arounds, yet the responsiveness was superb and I never once felt out of control.

The She-W stands up against the long running heavyweight classics of female-specific boards, and pushes the boundary of what’s to be expected from a world class snowboard. If this board is anything to go by, the future is female.”
