Why we chose the Bataleon Stuntwood Snowboard: It’s top of the list for triple corking teens whose bag of tricks is deeper than their voice.

So, your kid is already better than you at snowboarding. Chin up, it could be worse, they could be a skier… There’s a strange no man’s land between kiddy snowboards and full size adult decks, and when your grom has outgrown the former but the latter is still a bit cumbersome and unwieldy they’re often left a bit shortchanged. Enter the brand new Bataleon Stuntwood, the all-mountain freestyle ripper built specifically for the young guns. Drawing much of its DNA from the multi-award winning Bataleon Evil Twin, the Stuntwood is the ultimate pint sized party wagon for your prepubescent park rat.

Although on paper it’s the ideal companion for hotlapping the park and freestyle sessions all day long, in reality, despite its name, the Stuntwood boasts incredible versatility across the whole mountain. This is thanks in part to Bataleon’s signature Triple Base Technology (3BT). While other brands bickered over hybrid profiles, Bataleon brought 3D shapes to the forefront of the industry and changed the game forever.

Their three step base profile has a wide, flat centrebase with uplifted sidebases out to the contact points. As the Stuntwood is weighted and running flat, the contact points are raised from the snow for a solid ride without the fear of accidental edge catches. When you’re up on an edge, the board is pre-angled to mimic the shape it would be when in motion, powering up the whole sidecut throughout the entire arc of the turn.

3BT really is the gift that keeps giving, and the benefits can be felt across the whole mountain. The uplifts in the nose and tail give you one of the most forgiving and progression driven rides on the market when you’re pushing it in the park. Whether it’s a dodgy landing, an underrotation or choppy snow, you get loads of extra leeway to help you dial in new tricks.

When you finally drag Junior out of the park, the Stuntwood won’t let you down in varied snow conditions. Smashing through chunder, floating easily in the powder, and biting into hardpack groomers- the Stuntwood has got the chops to go toe to toe with anything and everything.

A tip to tail camber, albeit a relaxed one, injects some pop and life into the board. The positive profile gives your little ripper a taste of a traditional camber board, without all the old school hang ups. They’ll feel an increased edge hold while riding piste, more spring in their ollies and a much more dynamic ride compared to a rockered board.

For smaller frames and a more forgiving ride Bataleon have specc’d down the Stuntwood slightly from the big poppa Evil Twin, softer biax laminates, a lightweight wood core, and a low maintenance Super Slick X base keep it playful and durable.

When your kid straps into the Bataleon Stuntwood they’ll be prising open their very own Pandora’s Box, chock full of snowboard stoke and hype. It’s a snowboard that can grow with your grom until they’ve sized out to the big leagues and are ready for the full sized fleet, but until then, you can try and keep up with them on this dynamic daily driver.

For the 2020/21 season, the Stuntwood snowboard is also available with a matching set of Bataleon bindings. Available from select retailers.
