On the whole, Bataleon snowboards tend to be found the softer-flexing end of the scale. Their unique Triple Base Technology is ideal for more spontaneous riding, in the park or elsewhere. For the more aggressive riders out there, however, the Bataleon The Jam ticks all the right boxes.

The Bataleon The Jam features two end-to-end carbon stringers that stiffen up the ride longitudinally, increasing the stability at speed as well as the pop. It’ll take more work than, say, the Evil Twin to get in the air, but if you can give it what it needs it’ll answer to your every command.

That Triple Base Tech has its uses on a board of this kind, too. Get it in the powder and you get more float than a board of its outline has any right to deliver, even with a classic camber profile that bites the groomers with ease. Then on park days you can get away with a whole lot more on boxes and rails. It’s not the best board for pressing, but it’s less likely to hang up when you’re taking it down long handrails.

With its super-quick base and responsive triax fibreglass, you’re better off getting the Bataleon The Jam up to speed. However, it’s got plenty going for it on the days when you don’t feel like charging. For confident riders, this is an excellent all-mountain option.

Tester’s Verdict

Ed Blomfield – whitelines.com

“Although not as eye-catching as some of the crazy shapes on the market these days, the Jam excelled in powder, feeling ‘slinky’ on the traverse and surfy on the descent. Much of the credit for this has to go to the Triple Base Tech, which lends all Bataleon boards a signature smooth feel from edge to edge.

With its rapid base and powerful flex, however, this model would be more suited to experienced riders seeking to dominate the terrain, whether piste, pow or park. A solid choice for 3BT fans on the hunt for an all-mountain steed.”
