Until the seas run dry and the rocks melt in the sun, Bryan Iguchi will still be snowboarding somewhere. His signature board, the Arbor Bryan Iguchi Pro, comes in both camber and rocker versions. If you’re more a fan of the classic bend, this is the one for you.

“The slightly tapered shape is perfect for the pow, but really you can charge and launch the Bryan Iguchi Pro all over the mountain”

‘The System’ may sound like it’s for beating the house in Vegas, but it refers to Arbor’s unique design that sets boards like the Bryan Iguchi Pro apart from more conventional fare. Two separate technologies – ‘Parabolic Profiling’ and ‘Grip Tech’ – work together to improve the ride.

The former refers to the easing off of the camber as you move towards the nose and tail, which means the contact points don’t get overly engaged which leads to a twitchy ride. The latter is the name for extra contact points that exist nearer to the feet, giving you extra control and edge hold.

Bamboo channels in the core give the board a little extra pop with no added weight, while the sintered base goes like a rocket. The slightly tapered shape is perfect for the pow, but really you can charge and launch the Arbor Bryan Iguchi Pro all over the mountain. The Guch certainly does.

Tester’s Verdict

Sam McMahon – whitelines.com

“New snowboard technology works best when you forget that it’s there in the first place. Unfortunately I was very conscious of the ‘Grip Tech’, and having all my weight being forced through two points on each edge rather than having the full sidecut to play with.

“The flex and weight of the thing was spot on for a powerful powder charger”

This made the ride a bit skittish whilst feeling like the un-engaged edge was about to catch. To be completely fair we did test it on icy hardpack, though I’m not sure how it could help in softer conditions.

Other than that, the flex and weight of the thing was spot on for a powerful powder charger, perfect for creaming through soft stuff turns. I know a couple of ‘heavier’ friends that absolutely love it as well – perhaps the Guch is preparing for that middle-age spread?”
