Why we chose the Ninja Suit Pro Snowboard Base Layer: A Ninja Suit, with odour resistance, designed for splitboarding.

Designed for splitboarding, this is the missing piece of kit from every backcountry enthusiast’s repertoire. What they’ve done here Airblaster is take their Classic Ninja Suit, adjusted it in places to fit the needs of the riders who wander off the beaten path and created the Airblaster Ninja Suit Pro.

By using a 4-way stretchy woven-wool blend Schoeller Nanospshere softshell fabric at the hood, shoulders and knees, the suit provides excellent water repellence, breathability and movement. In other words, it keeps the water from entering whilst making sure the moisture created when sweating finds its way out.

“The wrists and ankles here are surrounded with durable low-profile compression fabric, adding pressure to these parts and increasing blood flow”

On the main body of the suit, Airblaster’s used a 4-way-stretch merino fabric – keeping the suit easy to move in but with added warmth. Merino wool is odour resistant, meaning you don’t have wash the suit after a full day on the mountain. As well as leaving you smelling like roses, merino also has the best warmth / breathability rating. It will keep you warm and dry.

The wrists and ankles here are surrounded with durable low-profile compression fabric, adding pressure to these parts and increasing blood flow. Increased blood flow results in more oxygen in the cells of the specific muscle groups, which keeps them at top performance. A welcome addition, as we all know how straining both snowboarding and splitboarding can be on the ankles and wrists.

For anyone wondering how you’ll get this thing off when needing to empty your bladder or bowel, Airblaster’s got a solution to that too – a 350-degree waist zip and a full-length 2-way zipper.

As a nice little extra the fitted hood has also got a chin protector, preventing the zipper from irritating your chin. The thumb loops at the cuffs are also an important feature, and something you’ll definitely come to appreciate (the sleeves feel way nicer underneath your jacket when they’re not continuously rolling up).

The zippered chest pocket is good for keeping your valuables safe. Keeping your phone in a pocket close to your skin keeps it warm, and prevents the phone battery from dying too quickly.

With a mixture of different fabrics, Airblaster’s Ninja Suit Pro is as good as it gets when choosing a second skin to take you through your day in the mountains. And the best part is, it’s so comfy and un-smelly that you might not even want to take it off when you’ve made it back home.

Even if the Ninja Suit Pro is designed with splitboarders in mind, it doesn’t mean it isn’t a great choice for everyone else too. Whether you want to lap the park, tour the resort, or are looking for a last-minute Halloween costume – be sure to get yourself one of these.

The model in the photo is 6’2” (187cm) tall and wearing size L.
