Who saw this coming? The Air & Style (or, to give it its full name ‘Oakley and Shaun White present the Air & Style’) rolled back into Beijing, and it was Norway’s Ulrik Badertscher who took the top spot.
It was a night of Scandanavian domination as the super-final came down to Norwegians Torstien Horgmo, Stale Standbech and Badertscher, as well as Nils Arvidsson from Sweden. Ulrik had to get the better of both Seb Toots (last year’s winner) and countryman Gjermund Braaten to reach the last stage – no mean feat in itself.
Up til now, Mr. Badertscher was mainly known for landing the world’s first backside 1620 a couple of years ago. This may still be the most Marmite trick of all time; it set the world of Twitface ablaze with rabid arguments from both sides. However, now that he’s bested the likes of Torstein in competition, he’s probably earned a bit more cred all round….
