This year’s special 20th anniversary Air & Style in Austria has just got a little bit extra special. As a prequel to the main comp, the audience in the legendary Bergisel stadium will be treated to a new kind of contest – the Burn Style Session. The organisers have invited a handful of the biggest legends in snowboarding to throw down in a contest that will be judged purely on the basis of style.

With the names already confirmed including Terje Haakonsen, Gigi Rüf, Devun Walsh and David Benedek, it promises to be something really special. As the press release puts it: “Expect super tweaked methods and stylish floaty 180s to be the order of the day.”

The ordinary Air & Style comp has been expanded this year so that 24 riders will compete for the famous ring of glory. And while this will still be the blue ribbon event of the whole weekend (February 1st – 2nd 2013) we have to say we’re almost looking forward more to the Friday night’s entertainment than the main event on the Saturday. I mean honestly, did you ever think you’d get to see Terje and Devun going head to head in a contest of style? I mean it’s guaranteed to be sick isn’t it?
