On a hot streak after his US Open triumph earlier this month, Taylor Gold beat out a stacked field to win the first ever Red Bull Double Pipe event in Aspen. Here’s his winning run:
Not far behind was Chase Josey who, despite only doing one transfer between the pipes, scored 91.4 to finish in second ahead of Arthur Longo. That’s one of the coolest drop-ins we’ve ever seen:
Best style went to Swiss master Markus Keller, fresh from winning a gong at that other recent pipe contest The Arctic Challenge, while Gabe Ferguson took home Best Trick with his back 3 between the pipes.
That’s all from Red Bull Double Pipe for 2014. What are your thoughts? Is it going to catch on? Are the extra opportunities for varies runs really worth the extra time and effort of building the second pipe? Or is it another win for creative snowboarding over formulaic, cookie-cutter pipe comps? Let us know in the comments below.
