It’s every rider’s dream to one day make a trip to the pow paradise of Japan. This is exactly what the owners Craig and Matt did when they ventured to the country over a decade ago. The pair set up the Morino Lodge in Hakuba, deep in the Japanese Alps. Like the name suggests, it’s more of a lodge than a chalet but they still offer delicious food, great powder and friendly service to everyone who stays with them. Plus there’s the added comfort of staying with Canadian/British owners – they can explain all the foreign customs to you! Riders can take a dip in a nearby onsen, an outdoor Japanese hot spring bath, after a day pow-slashing before eating a traditional Nabe dinner every Wednesday night. Those with a bigger budget can stay in Morino’s fancy new self-contained chalet cottages nearby.
